Canterbury & Whitstable Line

We continue to work towards a permanent feature on the old Canterbury-Whitstable Railway. This week, we include a substantial draft article that examines the stretch of track between Westgate Terrace and All Saints Church.

The article includes maps and cross sections ... substantial contributions from Brian Smith and Terry Phillips... and current day photos from Peter Dalrymple.

Tower Parade

In our Chat Column of 7/7/08, Dave Jordan kindly provided a postcard of Tower Parade during the flood of 1897. It caused quite a discussion regarding the way in which that locality developed. Now, thanks to Jean Martin, we can look in more depth at the issues.... and link it to our Canterbury & Whitstable railway article.

It includes....  a lovely article by Sidney Walker on Clare House... a photo from Jock Harnett that must be one of the strangest in our whole school collection.... and a constructed picture of the Endowed of bygone days from Brian Smith.
