During the summer months, it is not unusual to spot a Thames
Barge moored at the harbour's South Quay. Examples include the Greta
(below) which is often available for trips into the bay...

has visited on occasions....

However, for sheer quantity and activity, it is
best to time your visit to coincide with a Barge Race. It is then that you will be
rewarded with bustling scenes like those so beautifully captured
by Anne Nash below...
