If you watch a barge race, you may not necessarily know what's
going on.... but it sure is colorful in the bay as you can see
from this shot taken on Tankerton Slopes.

In fact, I've decided that a barge race is like the eyes of the
Mona Lisa..... it tends tell to follow you around the waterfront. Take
a look at this graceful scene captured at Tower Hill Tea
Gardens....

... and this next one snapped at Tankerton
Beach...

Down at the Horsebridge, it can
be quite relaxing with barges moored off the beach...

... but you don't necessarily have to be on the
seafront to spot one. Even Cromwell Road will do....

Of course, at one time, the
masts and rigging of sailing ships dominated the town. Sadly, it
is now something of a novelty
