I left Whitstable in 1954. My reason for coming here was that, at
one time during the war, my sister Joan and I were being evacuated
to Canada. Just before we were to leave, the "The City of
Benares", a large passenger ship full of evacuees, was sunk
by a U-boat. That stopped that idea! But I had looked at the books
and the concept stayed with me until 1954 when I came over in
safety. I have stayed here ever since.

I had worked at Canterbury Cathedral for six years working on the
stained glass. (If you have any interest, go to one of my web sites
- www.tookeglass.homestead.com
to see some of the work I have done in Canada).
