Gary and Trudi Roppel have made their "Home
from Home" in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. And if you are
still wondering precisely where that is, their first photo will give
a big clue...

It's taken from a local park in Etobicoke and that's
the CN Tower in the distance - the largest tower in the world to
date. By now, you will have guessed that we are talking Toronto -
just north of Niagara Falls and nicely located alongside one of the
Great Lakes - Lake Ontario
I daresay that there are days when
the summer temperature matches that of Queensland down under - but I
doubt that Queenslanders have to cope with scenes like this too
often....

This is Gary in January clearing a
path through a Canadian winter but it looks like TV reception will
be pretty reasonable.... judging by the size of that satellite dish
on neighbour's roof in the background! I bet they didn't have too
much trouble spotting Venus in front of the Sun the other day!
Of course, snow makes for a
traditional White Christmas in Canada....

... but, indoors, it could easily be
a scene from a lounge in Whitstable....

Downtown Toronto isn't too far away
and the photo below is taken through the car windscreen with the CN
Tower in the distance.

Mind you, Toronto may have had the CN Tower for some
years but, as far as I know, they have never had a branch of
Whitstable's Dilnot Bakery. That's a significant comment
because Trudi is a member of the Dilnot family... and that brings us
nicely to a very special memento that Trudi cherishes.....

Yes, it's a Dilnot's carrier bag.... and it's nice
to know that, alongside the lakes of Canada, there is a piece of
Toronto that is forever Whitstable.
