Waverley Paddlestreamer - Whitstable to Tower Bridge 


Introduction

Every year, the paddlesteamer Waverley visits Whitstable and provides cruises around the Thames and Thames estuary. Our collection of photos captures scenes from the trip from Whitstable to Tower Bridge on 7 October 2010. The pictures have been split into sections and can be accessed from the menu below. Docking at Southend pier, the industrial areas of Canvey Island and the Queen Elizabeth Bridge (Dartford), the Thames barrier and the Woolwich Ferry.

Fascinating scenes in all directions as Waverley passes the dome, slips around Canary Wharf and crosses the Greenwich Meridian in front of Sir Christopher Wren's lavish buildings at Greenwich.

Located between Tower and London bridges, the Pool is surrounded by history including the Tower of London, the WWII cruiser HMS Belfast and City Hall (offices of Mayor Boris Johnson and the Greater London Authority).

As night falls, the Waverley returns down river to Tilbury where coaches await to complete the journey back to Whitstable.
