Introduction
This page will create some discussion and fun
around the globe! Linda Farrington has very kindly taken the trouble to scan her
"whole school" photo featuring the Sir William Nottidge pupils of the
1956/57 academic year.
Sadly, we can't show you the whole thing in one go
but we have managed to divide it up into screen-sized portions. Here are a few notes to help you find you way around:
| 1 |
The photo has been divided into 9 sections
(A-I). As the sections overlap slightly, we have put
a blue haze around pupils who are covered in another section. So, ignore the blue Smurfs. |
| 2 |
Pupils
are numbered Some are yellow
numbers... some are blue. This is purely to ensure that the numbers stand out
against the background. The colour has no significance. So, ignore the colours.
|
| 3 |
Pupil numbers placed as close to the neck/upper chest of the pupil
as possible. |
| 4 |
To avoid overcrowding the photos, we cannot use three digit
numbers. Thus, the numbering starts at "1" in each section. So, if you
want to contribute some names,
specify BOTH the Section letter AND the pupil number when naming an
individual (eg Pupil number 34 in section A is "A34"). Always
place the identifier before the name. So, if you think it is Donald Duck, simply
write "A34: Donald Duck" and email us at whit@oysta.fsnet.co.uk
.
Remember that we have more than one photo... so, please
mention the year (ie 1956/57) somewhere in
your message

Where conflicting information is received from different sources,
we show names in red in the hope that other readers will
resolve the discrepancies. |
That's it.... Simple!.... Here we go. We will
add names to the charts as they arrive from our readers.

Always In Our Thoughts...
Sadly, we have learned that a number of pupils
featured in the photo are no
longer with us and we would like to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences
to relatives and friends.
We have pondered the question of including a note alongside the
names but we have come to the conclusion that it would be unwise to do so.
Whilst most reports come from firm sources, others may be based on hearsay.
Furthermore, after 50 years, memory can play tricks when it comes to relating
names to faces and there is a danger of mistaken identity.
Rather than risk errors that could cause distress, we have
decided to exclude the information from the article. We hope that this will not
be seen as disrespectful but as a genuine attempt to do what we feel is right in
the circumstances.
